I founded Zena Consulting in 2008 because smart leaders kept asking me: "how do we work with cultural groups that are new to us?"

My talent for as a communication liaison began as a child, navigating between farming and Rust Belt cultures in rural Pennsylvania. 

Back then, the differences that mattered were around Northern European ethnicity, socioeconomics, and religion.

After college I landed in Seattle. While raising a family I got certified to be a parent educator, then began training educators and paraprofessionals- around cultural differences. This work pulled me into the heart of non-majority, under-served communities.

It bothered me to see how narrow definitions of "healthy family" or "best practice" could do real harm if they ignored valid cultural and communication differences.

That's the gap I help executives in all sectors close-  before a blind spot costs you a client, a hire, or a relationship. 

The fix can be surprisingly simple: a few honest conversations, some skill-building and/or facilitation, followed by honest feedback.
