For some clients, the best way to build relationships with new groups is through cultural events and public programming. See the business and COMMUNITY OUTREACH projects and events we've has sponsored and/or produced with community partners since 2002.
I founded Zena Consulting in 2008 because smart, capable leaders kept asking me how to work with diverse cultural groups — questions I could answer from years volunteering with immigrant, refugee, faith, and other non-majority communities.
I started in advertising copywriting, learning to make complex ideas easy to understand.
Later, work in family support and education drew me deeper into communities different from my own.
Leaders kept pulling me into an unofficial EXECUTIVE ADVISOR role — stuck on the same problems: unfamiliar clients, miscommunication, unresolved conflict.
I could see the gap between their intentions and actions clearly. The fix was usually simple: a few conversations, some training or facilitating, and a feedback loop. Zena Consulting was born.

We're in business to help leaders and managers find the best strategies and tools to communicate effectively, navigate conflict, and compete, in today's increasingly complex organizations.
The wisdom is in the room. Our job is to draw it out, lead with our best truth, and help clients "invite the stranger" (people or perspectives), in.
We start with questions, listening carefully and working closely with you to determine which service will help you best. Our process involves assessing individual and team strengths, organizational culture, marketplace data, and a systems analysis.
We use Adaptive Leadership to separate technical problems from people problems — and the EQ-CQ-LQ framework (Emotional, Cultural, and Leadership Intelligence) to build the skills that solve for both.
