"Accommodating Muslim Modesty in Public Pools"

Cathy Duchamp interviewed participants in this community program we helped launch in 2005, at Meadowbrook Pool in Seattle. It's open to all women, and here's what one participant said:

"I've been raised in Saudi Arabia. No woman can go uncovered or--any public places. For me to learn how to swim, like, even drive, it's very--it's like dreaming. I never imagined myself in the water swimming."

Lee's facilitation work with the Muslim Sisters Group was invaluable–once again. This was so much more than meets the eye. She helped us establish new strategic partners, which will expand our funding base and visibility.
