A manager was unsure how to raise valid performance concerns to HR about an employee from a different cultural background- worried that her questions might be misconstrued as racial bias.
We separated the employee's behavior from their culture, worked out language that was honest without being accusatory, and practiced talking points that felt natural and comfortable bringing up to her team.
